Maybe im just a horrible intolerant person, I dont care, im tired of people wasting my time . . this item pretty much sums up how I feel right now!

I have been debating posting this for days, do I really want to post my gross swollen no make up'd face on the internet? no not really. But im going to anyway.

I have been wanting to dye my hair a natural colour for quite some time now. I have had some sort of bright colour for the past 6 years. Answering the same old questions and being polite to strangers on a daily basis it getting old, and at times its just bloody annoying. And then theres the people that like to shout at you in the street? yes im well aware my hair is blue/green/turqoise . . . I do not need to be told!

Anyway my friend asked me to dye her hair brown a couple of weeks back and I decided to do a skin test on my forearm afterwards. The first two days were looking good no rash or swelling, day 3 the rash kicked in on the patch where the dye was and by day 4 my eye had swollen. coincidence? I think not.

Heres the story, I have dyed my hair since the age of 16 (the age I started going grey shocking I know!) I always dyed it a dark natural colour just to cover those pesky white hairs after all I was way to young to be grey! I had always used the same brand of hair dye and never had any problems. Then one day, the day after dying my hair my head began to swell, I went to the doctors and was given some steroid tablets to take (10 a day if I remember correctly) the next day I woke up with one eye swollen shut and my whole head continued to swell throughout the day, by that evening my head was described by doctors as 'moon shaped' before they rushed me in and injected me with a large dose of steroids. I literally felt myself deflate. . . . which was wondeful but I still had a humongous head. After my first night in hospital I awoke, well I was awake but couldnt see a thing as both eyes were swollen shut. It was a very surreal experience, one I dont want to ever repeat. I was disscharged after two days but it still took a fair few days for my face to return to normal.

If you times the above picture by 10 you'll have some idea of what my face looked like after it was dyed a natural colour 6 years ago. I wish I still had the photos to show how bad it actually was. Always do a skin test! even if you have used the same hair dye for years like I had. You never know what could happen.

Its scary to think that the above picture was from a small 10p sized skin test on my arm. Do we seriously need these chemicals in our hair dyes?

I think I am going to have to stick to my crazy vegetable dye hair colurs or grow out my hair? and be brown/grey? I would love to know what people think, have you ever had any reactions to dye? do you know of any safe hair dyes in natural colours?

p.s I appologise for the scary face I was pretty grumpy that day!

The post office ladies totally love me and my mary poppins bag as they like to call it. As you can imagine im on first name terms with pretty much everyone in there!

I have also had two job interviews so far this week . . . exciting! Well except for the fact I dont think I will get either of them. I dont actually need another job right now, but for some reason I keep applying??? I should be concentrating on sewing and creating but I feel distracted? I cant really explain it. I wish I could just make a decision and stick with it. Be focused, set my own goals and go for it, what am I afraid of? If anyone has the answers please let me know . . . . I could do with having a boss right now . . . maybe thats why I keep job hunting! answers on a postcard.

I know you all wanted to see my feet and up my nose all in one post so here it is!

Nice toenails huh! They were painted bright yellow, but my blue hair runs in the shower and makes them lime green . . . interesting info if your thinking of going a crazy colour ay!

I have had this huge map of the world since I was a child. I have always been really curious about other cultures and traveling. When I was younger I had pen pals from all over the world and we would exchange little mementos from our countries and teach each other about our customs and culture. I dont think my curiosity has ever left me but some times you get a little side tracked in life and forget about all the things you wanted to with it.

I have been having one of those weeks where my mind has been wandering. There is a huge world out there and I would love to see it. Im keeping my map up to motivate me to save for some more travels and adventures. Where do I venture next? There are just too many places i would love to go explore.

I think I have found the tattooist I would like to get work by, yay! I just need to send an email to see when and what I can get done . . . but I feel kinda silly because I dont have a specific design that I want, I just know the kind of things I like. I have been putting this email off for weeks . . . silly I know! Any advice from you fellow tattooed ladies? Do you always know exactly what you want? or are you happy to let the tattooist come up with something if you know they are the right person for the job?

Remember that fabric I found a few posts back? Well I have turned it into a couple of items . . . one of them being this playsuit, yeah! I copied the pattern from one I already own, im all about re making things I like in different fabrics. Part of me loves it, part of me feels like a walking bedspread, any opinions?

I am very much recovered from my cold from hell which is awesome, and I have been crazy busy the past week or so. I cant complain, I love having lots on the go but I would really like a full day of creative sewing as soon as I have a spare one. Iv got a playsuit making bug.

Oh dear I am ill again :( im feeling rather poop and frustrated because its been super sunny and summery and I have absolutely no get up and go whatsoever. Last week I was totally on it, organized motivated and getting stuff done and this week, boom! sickness, not impressed. And to top it I have a lot of custom orders to get on with. Typical ay!

Anyway this was an outfit from last week. Whatdyathink? I have a little side project in the pipeline. I have also reduced tons of items in my etsy shop so take a peek! im pretty generous when im ill so take advantage lol :)

Whah! where does the time go! I have had a crazy couple of weeks and I turned 27 . . . yep thats right, 27 on the 6th March. I can not believe I am this old! Anyway I have neglected the blog for too long. Heres a brief catch up, I have gotten a few more hours work at the pub so I am trying to adjust to working late and getting home at 5am on the weekends then waking up early and doing my sewing job during the week . . . . Its kinda tough but I have made myself a timetable to organize my life. With naps included and everything. I feel like im back at school. But so far so good, im being super productive and I like it!

Its only my first week testing my timetable out and it will need a little tweaking but so far I have managed to spend less time online (im sure we all get sucked in and distracted on the internet) I need to cut my browsing down and be more productive when im online. Im limiting internet work to the evenings. So the past few days I have gotten some sewing projects done. I have made 2 dresses, cut out a 3rd, drafted a pattern for and made up a playsuit. Sewn up a custom order, photographed a batch of items and even spent a morning charity shopping. . . . thats quite a lot.

Oh and did I mention I have been doing yoga every morning! just call me superwoman!

Oh and last but not least I had a super sweet birthday eve with some wonderful friends. Yummy food at a local noodle bar then lots of chit chat and cups of herbal tea at a swanky cafe/bar afterwards. I can feel summer is just around the corner and I am excited! I went for a mooch around some charity shops today and picked up a few random bits . . . you've got to love a good rummage. Car boot season will soon be here too, yay! I just need to wake myself up early enough to go.

Anyway I picked up these two tops last week and I finally bought some vinyl to use as a backdrop for photographing, so I had a bit of a play. I am super happy with the background I think it looks so much more professional dont ya think?. I hate being in photos though, I feel really vain taking pictures of myself. Im not vain I promise, although I did photoshop my face, if you ever see me in real life beware lol. And the point of todays post is? I love vinyl, yeah!

Anyway, this is the extent of my posting for tonight as im feeling rather drained and tired. The kind of tired where you know you would feel much better if you'd done lots of exercise. Iv been going to the local leisure center for some classes but it just doesn't live up to my old gym. The past week has flown over in a blur. I cant even tell you what I actually did. But I did get a lot of things organised business wise. I have done a fair amount of sewing and finishing off which I kinda hate (I am a serial project starter, I have so many ideas and get super excited about creating new stuff then end up with piles of unfinished projects) but im training myself to be a finisher. . . im not allowed to fabric shop until I have used everything I already own, so this is going to take a while lol.

The not so highlight of last week was hitting a giant kirb and blowing my tyre . . . then finding out the spares flat . . . did i mention it started to rain . . . oh and my other front tyre had an egg in it :( I guess you just have to laugh, part with your hard earned cash for two new tyres and try not to hit any more kirbs when parking.

On a happier note I finally found a playsuit I can kinda pull off . . .

Busy busy!

Sooo I have had a bit of a mad few weeks. I got myself a weekend bar job as I am need of some extra pennies. My first real working day was friday and it was crazy busy . . . so busy i thought I was going to puke at times . . . fun stuff. I think I did pretty well considering iv never worked at a bar before, and I havent worked for anyone but myself for the past 3 years . . . . I didnt get in to bed till 5am but I actually enjoyed working there, the musics good the people are nice and its not like I have a social life at the minute so I might as well do some extra work.

Sunday I went down to London to check out the London edge trade show. The journey was epic! 6.30am start and I got back to Liverpool at 1.10am monday morning. Not fun at all! The trade show was good but I was surprised that its halved in size since I last had a stand there. It was also chinese new year so it was heaving in the town center, which is not fun when your starving and tired. And I dont do crowds at the best of times. It confirmed how much I hate London. I am most definitely a seaside girl not a city chick, crowds suck, rude people suck, the tube sucks, london simply SUCKS! some people might disagree but thats my opinion. Rant over!

Finding your huge head posted on the internet by others is a little creepy, but I guess its a good thing? Im flattered. Its kinda crazy. Minus my bright hair and metal face im a pretty quiet and shy person (shocking I know). Until you get to know me of course. People always assume im as loud as my appearance and they think im taking the piss when I tell them im shy.

Sometimes I wonder if people think I look like this just to get a reaction? Im not an attention seeker, I hate having my photo taken (although im trying to get over that), I just like to look different. And iv learnt to ignore peoples stares over the years.

Its important to be yourself no matter what anyone else thinks. God im so lame!

Iv gotten out of the habit of bogging oops,

I found this image on tumbler and it really draws me in. I love the sea. I can almost hear the waves crashing. I need to live in a little house by the shore so I can wake up to this every morning.

So today I spent most of my morning lying on the floor with back and leg pain, I feel like an old lady, bending hurts, sitting hurts and lying flat HURTS damnit! I took a few pain killers and began to function normally late afternoon. Feeling rather sorry for myself I decided to have a cup of tea and some chocolate . . . Iv managed 6 days so far without either. I guess I should make it a once a week thing so im not completely depriving myself. Heres hoping I can make it 7 days this time.

My head still really hurts too so im starting to doubt that its from my lack of caffeine (new years resolution) and more just a general head cold? Yeah so I said I would have a new collection ready by the 2nd and I started listing some of it yesterday . . . a day late is better than never I guess. Im starting small and listing it in bits to make life easier. Anyway I have all this awesome fur fabric and although it makes me wrinkle my nose and sneeze lots I cant resist buying it. I wish I had taken some pictures to show you just how messy it makes the place. fur = evil. The first one is my fave and the messiest to work with but its sooo soft and fluffy. Perfect for this chilly weather.

Eek it's 2011

I usually love new years. Its a time for a fresh start and to set yourself goals and plans for the year ahead (I love to plan and have something to work towards). But I have been dreading this one. Why? well because 2010 was such an amazing year and im not sure if 2011 can live up to that. Dont get me wrong I had plenty of bad times too but overall i feel like i achieved a lot and had one hell of an adventure on a bit of a crazy whim too.

I need to remind myself that I am capable of anything I put my mind too. I feel like I hit home with a bump when I returned from my travels and its knocked my confidence a little. So I need to pick myself up and make this year as amazing as I can.

Things I was lucky to achieve in 2010:

I managed to live alone and support myself from my business, in an awesome but moldy flat.
I had amazing times with all my close friends. Including a fab trip to Edinburgh for my birthday
My family have been really supportive (they always are) But especially for helping me move my entire belongings into there garage while I went away
I taught art at summer camp in America (anyone who knows me will know I am not the type of person that would do this) Im really glad I did it though, I wasnt even sure I was capable of it.
I drove the whole east coast of the USA in 5 days . . . on the wrong side of the road might I add. I think the furthest iv ever driven in the UK was to Manchester so that was a bit insane of me but epic!
I also joined a gap group and travelled the whole of central America from mexico to Costa rica and tried so many activities I might never have done otherwise.

This is going to be tough to beat! I always want to do things better, achieve more, work harder, push myself a little further. But perhaps this year I need to appreciate the smaller things? stop wanting so much? I dont know, im just rambling. Im not 100% sure what I want/should do this year but I do have some goals.

Goals for 2011:

Be more consistent in everything I do (including blogging regularly)
Finally get tattooed after years of thinking about it
Eat better, I am quitting alcohol, tea and chocolate! insane I know its gona be tough.
Exercise more, and I really want to get back into yoga.
Day trips with my friends to conventions or gigs etc.
I want to bungee jump
Surf again
And be abroad or traveling this winter

On that note ill leave you . . . as my caffeine withdrawal headache is setting in boo!

Topshops unique autumn and winter collection 2010.

I fell in love with this collection as soon as I saw it. I usually dread winter wear and its drab colour schemes. (I try my hardest never to purchase or wear anything black) unless I really have to that is. But im warming to these tones. Im especialy drawn to the mix of fabrics, from knits to furs, the head pieces are also super fun! Hot pants and over the knee leg warmers in winter? yes please!

How many weeks till its summer?

I am not a winter girl. Im cold, tired, achey and grumpy I feel like hibernating. I keep avoiding nights out with friends to hide away under my warm duvet. Im a total granny in winter. Perhaps I need to move to a warmer country

So im back home and getting my craft on again. My industrial machine is tucked away in the garage so im not making any clothing just yet.

Theres lots I want to do and one huge aim is to use up all of my scraps! I have bags and bags of them. I feel like a crazy person holding onto all these off cuts so I MUST put them to good use. So far I have been on a pom pom and yoyo making spree, check it out!

Id like to say that im shocked that there are sweat shops here in the UK but im not.

I am shocked that clothing is made here for major high street retailers for as little as 80p an item?! you cant even buy a loaf of bread for 80p!

I Have spent today taking photos for a new jewellery collection. I have kept myself sane the past few days by getting crafty without a sewing machine . . . . my industrial is buried away under boxes and boxes of crap eek!

I forgot how much fun it could be to photograph! My DSLR has been packed away in the garage, so I dug her out and got snapping. After rummaging around to find some suitable props first that is. Im quite pleased with the set up I had considering I have no space whatsoever now that im back at my parents. They have recently moved into a bungalow and are franticly redecorating. My room is just a tad larger than my super comfy double bed, so I have been clambering all over said bed to photograph all day. The wallpaper in my new room it pretty er, retro?! . . . . I secretly like it!

Anyway whilst editing my photos I started browsing my Lightroom library and found some pictures from my flat. Its made me all nostalgic. I miss my old home, but not the damp bits or the giant spiders. I guess you always remember things more fondly when you look back at them.

Ok heres the tour!

I lived in a huge old manor house, well part of it. How awesome are the stained glass windows! As you can see I resided under the stairs. . . .

Strangely my bathrooms, yep two of them were right in front of you as you walked in.

I need to be more open and actually blog about my life, hence my rancid face above. Me + sharing my thoughts and feelings dont really mix so bear with me, im trying.

As some of you may know I closed my shop to go traveling 5 months ago (can you believe its been that long!) It feels like I was flying out only yesterday. I have so much to ramble on about im not quite sure where to start. I have had the most fantastic adventure. In some ways im sad to be back but im also excited about getting crafty and creative again after so long . . . . I know i know, im such a geek!

Ill fill you in on my adventure little by little, im still in the process of sorting through all my photographs. I promise to blog more often though, Honest!

I am going traveling this summer ^_^

Im in need of an adventure before I get too old lol . . . this is the rough plan.

June - Teaching fashion and textiles at Camp emerson in Massachusetts USA

August/September - Visiting my little bro whos recently emigrated to Toronto Canada

September - Trekking from Mexico to Costa rica

October/November - Volunteering at a yoga retreat in Costa rica.

I am excited/nervous/anxious/scared but I know it will be a really rewarding trip. I have worked my ass off since University doing nothing but focusing on my career/business for the last 3/4 years and I have come to the point where I need to escape and do some of the fun things in life. I miss having no responsibilities. Maybe I started my business too young, I dont know. I love it but right now I cant just focus on it . . . I need to do more.

I will come back to my sewing when my heads a little more settled/ when im ready to settle? I dont know.

Im very grateful to all my fans and customers and I will be back (cheese-fest eww) I just cant say when yet.

Travel bug

I am wondering what to do since some of my business plans have fallen through. I am very tempted to go traveling when the lease for my flat is up in four months time. Its something iv always wanted to do but iv always but my business first. Im also a big wuss and im terrified of traveling alone. But at 25 I feel like if i dont take some time out now to do it I never will. Does anyone have any experiences they can share? or ideas of where you think I should go?

I like the idea of volunteering so iv requested some information from a few gap year companies . . . theres so many out there to choose from and if possible id like to support smaller organizations.

Iv joined a gym before christmas? i must be crazy. I dont even like the gym but they do exercise classes too woop! Im excited. I need to get fit and healthy so i started today with a yoga class. I will be going back tomorrow for more i want to try them all.

I found this mirror in a local charity shop at the start of the week and spend a night or so painting it up . . . pink of course! I forgot to take a before picture as i was too excited about painting it. It was gold before . . . much cuter now i think. I just need to find a place to hang it now!

Iv spent most of my day tidying and sorting so i havent had chance to take a picture.

I dug these old pics out from when i had short green hair! my hairs now shoulder length and purple now so you can guess how old these are. I kinda miss the colour though. I was definitely much braver back then.

Today i got a much needed kick up the butt by my friend Kirsty.

I am the most unorganized person ever, and i own way too much stuff. I also have a habit of pretending things will just go away if i shove them in a bag or box. So today we re arranged my flat into a workspace, packing area and i also have a work free bedroom kinda. I now need to sort through all those dreaded bags and have a huge clear out arghhh!

That could keep me busy for the rest of the week but it needs to be done so i best get back to it.
